Kingfishers – Year 5
Dear Families,
This year in Kingfishers we are going to be lots of amazing different topics, starting with Natural Phenomena. We will then be looking at who is shaping/has shaped our world, with a history focus on the Ancient Greeks. We will then be delving into the notion of charity (particularly in different African nations) and thinking about the impact our changing climate is having on our environment. We will undertake case studies on various inspirational figures such as Malala Yousafzai.
Across all lessons, our focus is about preparing the children for our ever changing world and helping them to become caring, empathetic global citizens. We will be centering all our learning around the UN Sustainable Development Goals and discussing how it is more important than ever that we are working together as a global community to support one another and protect the planet.
Seesaw will be our main point of communication. That is where to go for announcements and to see some of the work your child has been doing in class. Feel free to message me on there too if there is anything you want to discuss.
